Frequently Asked Questions

What is VCIB’s relation to Vancity?

VCIB is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vancity Credit Union, a values-based financial co-operative serving the needs of its more than 543,000 member-owners and their communities in the Coast Salish and Kwakwaka’wakw territories. With 55 branches and $28.2 billion in assets plus assets under administration, Vancity is Canada’s largest community credit union.

As a national leader in business ethics, innovative thinking, and community development, Vancity uses its assets to help improve the financial well-being of its members and develop healthy communities that are socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable.

What is the process of obtaining a loan from VCIB?

  1. Contact us to get in touch with a Business Banking representative, who will review your circumstances and needs and will request additional documents (such as financial statements) to support your application.
  2. Our team will review the documentation and will schedule a call to discuss next steps and any outstanding questions before preparing a Letter of Interest outlining our financing terms.
  3. After you have reviewed our terms and are ready to proceed, we will prepare a full credit application and provide a credit decision and funding timeline based on your needs. We will then issue a Commitment Letter – a formal binding agreement between a lender and a Borrower.
  4. Finally, we will prepare all required security documentation and registrations, and will work with you to ensure funds are distributed based on the pre-determined funding schedule.

How can I qualify for a loan from VCIB?

You may be eligible for a loan from VCIB if you have been in operations for 2+ years, if you operate in Canada (outside of Quebec) and if you contribute to positive social, economic, and environmental change in your community. Contact us to determine eligibility.
